As Anaïs Nin once wrote: “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.” My attitude and thought processes during the exploration of my creativity are rooted in a celebration of this subjectivity of human experience.  In most of my choreographies, I welcome all aspects of the production into this humanity, utilizing even inanimate objects as partners rather than relating to them as simply a prop; instead they become as supporters, trespassers, or lovers. It is my aspiration in making dances to embody a holistic approach; to bring forth the disciplines of music, film, art, technology and the language of dance in innovative and meaningful ways for today’s and future generations.

The mysteries of human experience and perception continually refresh my sense of fascination with life. Enigmatic relationships between humans and beyond are what enliven my inspirations as I create dance. I like to look at the dark side of mankind because these things are easily forgotten or brushed aside in polite company. Seeking the fullness of life is what drives my curiosity and creativity, and leads me to explore the world outside of just the human perspective.  Finding meaning between living and non-living things by making dances in a conceptual framework greatly interests me. I experiment with different ways I can interact with objects and how they respond to my movements, transform the dance into relational moments between objects and dancers to magnify their motion or emotion through the world of technology and film.  Allowing the voices of objects to speak can evoke a religious ceremony from a simple candle, or transform a bar stool into a landscape of intoxicating human possibility.

I create multi-media landscapes for the dancers to inhabit to enrich the world for the performers and the audience. Choreographically, my investigations aim to find new ways to encounter what may have become familiar. As I dig deeper to create meaning between living and non-living things and explore human relationships, my work celebrates life and draws audiences into the wonders of existence.
